Due to the global COVID-19 situation we find ourselves with a resin supply shortage and therefore we need to restrict the amount of resin that can be ordered to two bottles per person, of any size. To make sure this is enforced we will keep a close eye on the orders to ensure that it is fair to everyone, and will be automatically refunding and holding back any extra resin ordered.There is also an international shortage of HDPE plastic bottles, so the bottles you receive may be a different size/material to normal but the amount of resin and hardener you receive will be correct. Resin8 heat-resistant epoxy resin has been certified by the ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) as non-toxic when used as directed and conforms to ASTM D-4236. It contains no VOCs, no solvents and doesn't give off fumes when used at room temperature. It is non-flammable and has a very mild odour and therefore safe for home use.This resin is designed to be used in silicone moulds and we do not recommend using it to 'free pour' over flat surfaces or as a top coating on a different resin.
Due to its long open time, this resin is susceptible to amine blush when used under the following conditions: high humidity, low room temperature (15oC or below), draughty and windy conditions (including air conditioning). To avoid polymer bloom we advise warming the resin first before mixing with the hardener. We also suggest that your working area is kept as consistent as possible with regard to temperature and humidity while the resin is curing, and that the silicone mould you are pouring into is also pre-warmed.
The addition of alcohol inks can also cause problematic surface finishes due to the effect of the ink diluting the resin and impacting its density. Alcohol inks can result in cloudiness, dimlpes and other surface blemishes.Health & Safety
Resin8 heat-resistant epoxy resin is a modern formulation of the safest epoxy chemicals available. However, all epoxy resins are chemicals and they do come with Health & Safety implications.
- You MUST wear nitrile gloves (or use a specialist resin barrier cream on your hands)
- You MUST wear a respirator when sanding partially-cured resin
- Ensure you work with this resin in a well ventilated room
- We advise you to wear safety goggles
- Avoid skin contact
- We advise against eating, drinking or smoking while working
- In case of eye contamination wash with plenty of water for 15 minutes and consult medical advice immediately

It is CRITICAL that you follow the instructions accurately. Do NOT change the mixing ratio - this will alter the properties of the resin and may cause it to remain tacky.
- This resin is fairly runny and can be easily mixed. It is less effective when mixed in small quantities so we advise you to mix at least 100g of this resin.
- Use 2 parts resin to 1 part hardener by volume or weight (2:1) to ensure a hard finish once set.
- Use separate, clean volumetric mixing cups for each part. We advise you to pour the hardener first and then the resin into one clean, larger cup.
- The mixed components should be thoroughly stirred for 3 minutes to ensure an even consistency - this is a long time... set a timer on your phone.
Resin8 heat-resistant epoxy resin has a pot life of around 90 minutes, depending on the temperature of your workspace. Watch this video for a demonstration of how to make a coaster with this resin:
This resin is designed to be used as a clear coating but it can also be coloured with our any non-water based pigments and powders
on our site - opaque, transparent, metallic, etc.
Apply by pouring from the mixing container, using lollipop sticks, pipettes, brushes or rollers. The temperature in your room should be between 18 to 25ºC and humidity level below 70% (i.e. do not use in a room with drying laundry). Due to its long pot life, this resin is susceptible to amine blush and polymer bloom when used in a humid workspace, a draughty room or one with air-conditioning. You can reduce the chance of these surface problems occurring by warming the resin component first before mixing it with the hardener.
A 2:1 mix will provide a hard, glossy finish. Make sure your resin piece is level. Pop any bubbles by hand using a cocktail stick, or use a heat gun or naked flame for a couple of seconds to aid bubble release. Avoid dimpling by holding the blowtorch or heat gun at least 20cm away.
Use silicone dispersion media such as resi-BLAST
to create lacing and cellular effects. NOTE: Please be aware that adding anything to epoxy resin will change its properties and may reduce its non-toxicity. If you are adding alcohol inks DO NOT use a flame to remove bubbles, as alcohol is flammable.
Resin8 heat-resistant epoxy resin is designed to be used clear. The addition of pigments, powders, alcohol, silicone and other elements will alter its chemical properties, potentially reduce its non-toxicity and affect the final cure time. We advise a final clear layer of Resin8 heat-resistant epoxy resin is applied on top of the finished piece to boost it's heat-resistance.
If cured at 20ºC in a non-humid environment, this resin should be touch dry within 24 hours and be fully cured after 14-21 days. Resin8 heat-resistant epoxy resin needs 14-21 days to reach maximum cured properties and temperature resistance. The addition of pigments (inks, powders and pastes) as well as other resin additives (resi-BLAST, silicone, lubricants, alcohol or solvents) will lower its temperature resistance - because pigment substances themselves have a very low temperature threshold. The higher the addition rate of pigments & additives which are added or mixed into Resin8 heat-resistant epoxy resin, the more the thermal withstand of the cured mass is lowered and compromised. In this case, we recommend a final clear topcoat is applied on top of the pigmented layer to bolster its resistance against hot objects placed on it.
We advise you to cure your resin pieces in a dust free environment, and keep in the dark for as long as possible.
