This flat Maple Leaf Coaster Mould can be used to make wall art and hanging decorations. Use Heat Resistant Resin to combine multiple leaves to create your own quirky coaster set! Try brushing some mica into the mould to create a shimmery finish or how about using Jesmonite to create a contemporary opaque matte finish, it's up to you!
Dimensions of finished piece: 95mm x 95mm (at its widest points) x 7mm depth.
This mould takes approximately 35ml of resin to fill.
If using to make a resin coaster, we recommend using a clear layer of heat-resistant resin first in your mould, letting that set and then adding more resin with colour, ink, glitter, etc. This helps to boost the heat-resistance of the resin. Remember too that our heat-resistant resin needs at least 7 days to achieve full cure. If your piece does not need to be heat resistant then Coat-it 1 to 1 Resin can be used.
If using to make a Jesmonite coaster, remember to seal the coaster before use to make it less porous. Use specific Jesmonite Sculpt & Cast pigments to colour the material.
Our silicone moulds can be re-used time and again providing they are looked after well. Keep it in the bag it comes to you in, don't use a flame near the mould (use a craft heat gun instead) and be careful when de-moulding - try not to scratch the mould with long nails or bend it out of shape too much.
If your casting comes out dull it could be that the mould has come to the end of its life (or that the mould doesn't have a shiny interior surface). You can keep using moulds that are past their best - it just takes a little more effort. Add a thin layer of resin to the casting or use polish and a cloth to bring up the shine.
