Use HEAT-RESIST™ epoxy resin for coasters and placemats (obvs) as well as tabletops, countertops, artwork and casting. HEAT-RESIST™ resin has a 2:1 mix ratio by weight or volume and will be touch dry in 24 hours (although needs 21 days before hot things can be placed on it).
This resin is a bit of a diva… she likes to be kept at a consistent temperature and humidity during curing. Treat her just right and get a show-stopping result.

Because HEAT-RESIST™ epoxy resin is thick and viscous we suggest you warm the part A (resin) bottle before use by popping it on a radiator or standing the bottle in some recently boiled water for 5 minutes. This means it will be easier to pour and work with. The part B (hardener) bottle should not be warmed.
Use 2 parts resin to 1 part hardener by volume (2:1) to ensure a hard finish once set. We advise you measure in millilitres and don't try to be clever with the mixing ratio. By changing it you will alter the properties of the resin, which inevitably means it won't set!
Stir Part A and Part B together thoroughly for at least 3 minutes - this is a long time... set a timer on your phone.
Once mixed, HEAT-RESIST™ epoxy resin remains at its most liquid for around 90 minutes, depending on the temperature of your workspace.
Epoxy resins tend to heat up when poured in large volumes (i.e. they produce an exothermic reaction), and when poured in teeny tiny volumes there isn't enough mass to generate the reaction, so we advise you to mix no less than 10ml and no more than 2l at a time.
Your working space should be between 18 to 25oC and humidity level below 70% (i.e. do not use in a room with drying laundry, pots and pans boiling or kettles on the go).
Make sure your resin piece is level and pop any bubbles by hand using a cocktail stick, or use a heat gun or naked flame for a couple of seconds to aid bubble release. Avoid dimpling by holding the blowtorch or heat gun at least 20cm away.
If cured at around 25 degrees C this resin should be touch dry within 24 hours and fully cured after 21 days. We like to cure our resin makes in the dark (for extra light-fastness) and in a dust-free environment. This resin will only be heat-resistant once fully cured (after 21 days), so don't place hot cups onto coasters/placemats made with this resin for at least 21 days!

Resin8 HEAT-RESIST™ epoxy resin is a modern formulation of the safest epoxy chemicals available. However, all epoxy resins are chemicals and they do come with Health & Safety implications and instructions, for which it is your responsibility to follow:
You MUST wear nitrile gloves (or use a specialist resin barrier cream on your hands and unprotected skin).
You MUST wear a respirator when sanding partially-cured resin. You do not need to wear one when pouring this resin.
Work with this resin in a well ventilated room (open the window, door, etc).
We advise you to wear safety goggles.
Avoid skin contact.
We advise against eating, drinking or smoking while working.
In case of eye contamination wash with plenty of water for 15 minutes and consult medical advice immediately.
This resin is designed to be used as an artwork resin or for casting into silicone moulds. We do not recommend using it to 'free pour' over flat surfaces or as a top coating on a different resin. When using in silicone moulds you will need to leave our HEAT-RESIST™ resin for at least 3-4 days before de-moulding to avoid any surface tension issues.
Due to the long open time (the length of time this resin stays liquid for), HEAT-RESIST™ resin is susceptible to amine blush when used under the following conditions: high humidity, low room temperature (15oC or below), draughty and windy conditions (including air conditioning). To avoid polymer bloom we advise you warm the resin (Part A) first before mixing with the hardener (Part B). We also suggest that you keep your working area as consistent as possible with regard to temperature and humidity while the resin is curing, and that the silicone mould you are pouring into is also pre-warmed. The addition of alcohol inks can also cause problematic surface finishes due to the effect of the ink diluting the resin and impacting its density. Alcohol inks can result in cloudiness, dimples and other surface blemishes.
Resin8 HEAT-RESIST™ epoxy resin has been certified by the ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) as non-toxic when used as directed and conforms to ASTM D-4236. It contains no VOCs, no solvents and doesn't give off fumes when used at room temperature. It is non-flammable and has a very mild odour and therefore safe for home use. It is certified as safe for INCIDENTAL FOOD CONTACT. It is NOT suitable for use on anything that comes into direct contact with the mouth (e.g. a cup) or as a cutting surface.
